Charley Ray "Chuck" Scott, 78, passed away on August 22, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and decorated military veteran, Chuck lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

Born on January 22, 1947, in Savannah, Tennessee, Chuck grew up with a strong sense of duty and perseverance. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School before continuing his education at Southern Illinois University and later Webster University. These academic pursuits laid the foundation for a life of leadership both in the military and civilian sectors.

Chuck's military career began when he was drafted into the United States Army. He served two-years, with a year spent in Vietnam, before choosing to re-enlist-a decision that would lead to a distinguished 23-year career in service to his country. Rising through the ranks to retire as a major, Chuck was recognized for his bravery and commitment with the Bronze Star Medal, three Purple Hearts, and a Meritorious Service Medal among numerous other commendations. His time in uniform reflected not only courage under fire but also an unwavering dedication to those he served alongside.

Following his retirement from the military, Chuck transitioned into civilian life with the same sense of purpose. He served as the Human Resources Director at the Cook nuclear power plant, and then as the Employee Concerns Manager at the Palisades nuclear power plant. In this role, he brought integrity and professionalism to every task, earning the respect of colleagues across both facilities.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chuck cherished his role within his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda Scott; daughter Kimberly Scott and her husband Oni Werth; son Kevin Scott and his wife Sarah Gremore Scott; and grandsons Jimmy Scott and Mac Scott. His family was a constant source of pride and joy throughout his life.

Chuck also leaves behind memories of joyful times spent in retirement-especially cruising the high seas with Linda by his side. Whether exploring new destinations or tending to their extensive gardens at home under Linda's careful direction, Chuck embraced these years with enthusiasm and gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his father Jake Scott and brother John Scott. He is survived by his mother Emma Lee Scott and his sister Linda (Chip) Cramer

Chuck's legacy is one of honor, resilience, and deep familial love. His memory will live on in those who knew him best-in stories shared over dinner tables, laughter echoing from past adventures, and quiet moments spent among blooming flowers he helped plant.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
