Charlie J. Grainger was born in Woodburn, Kentucky to Joe Frank Grainger (known as Roy D. Grrainger) and Aleyne Barrett Grainger on November 10, 1950. Charlie departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the age of 74.
Charlie wed Jeannette Everage on November 23, 1974, in Toledo, Ohio. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Choir where he sang in the choir.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Grainger, parents; Joe Frank and Aleyne Barnett Grainger, Brothers; John R. Grainger and Bobby J. Grainger, Daughters; LaTrice Lynette Everage-Smith and LaShonda Renee Grainger, all of Toledo, Ohio.
Charlie is survived by his son, Roy D. (Charia) Grainger, Grandchildren; Robert Smith II, Erykia Grainger, Eric Boyd, Terry Watson Jr., Great grand child; Semaj Wright-Grainger, Sisters; Teresa Grainger and Peaches Giles, Special friends; Ytera Jones, Tony and Hazel McGee, Sr., Chuck Jacko, Jerry Williams, all of Toledo, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and kinds friends. A special thanks to U.S. Renal Care, St. Vincent Medical Staff, St. Charles Medical Staff, and Advanced Specialty Hospitals of Toledo for their dedication, care, kindness toward Charlie.
Charlie, affectionately called Chuck, will be remembered for his famous hot tamales that he loved to make and share with family and friends. Charlie was known for taking care of his parents and looking out for his neighbors, on Elliott. Charlie loved to travel, swim, play pool, hunt, tell jokes, and doing puzzles (of which he did with his wife Jeannette). Charlie was a graduate of Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School. He was a man who loved to compete in the tough man contest and was sure to let everyone know it. Charlie will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
