Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Charlie Lee Simmons. He passed peacefully at his home. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends. His passing is a profound loss to all who knew him.
Charlie Lee Simmons of Fort Valley, Georgia completed his earthly journey on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Charlie was born to James Simmons, Sr. and Eva Simmons in Crawford County, Georgia.
He was educated in the public schools of Crawford County, Georgia and a graduate of Crawford County Comprehensive High School in 1976. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Army and served honorably from 1976 to 1988. During this time, he received numerous Army Commendation Medals and Good Conduct Medals. After being honorably discharged, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Strayer University.
He was employed by the United Postal Store located in Warner Robins, GA. Later, he was employed at PPG Industries, Inc.
After retiring, he began to enjoy a life of leisure. He enjoyed walking in the park, shopping, traveling and above all, spending time with family and friends.
Charlie Lee leaves with his family many cherished memories of their celebrations of holidays and special occasions.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Leon Simmons, Sr; sisters: Geneva Stallion, Shirley Ann Simmons; and brothers-in-law: Elijah Alsobrooks and J.P. Stallion.
Charlie Lee is survived by his mother: Eva Jones Simmons; sisters: Lois (Andrew) Carter, Margaret Alsobrooks, Maxine Abernathy and Elnora Simmons; brothers: Johnny Simmons, Harold Simmons, Larry Simmons, James Simmons, Jr., , and Anthony (Deborah) Simmons; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
