In Loving Memory of Charlotte Merrick
July 26, 1944 – July 14, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep faith, we celebrate the beautiful life of Charlotte Merrick, a beloved wife, daughter, friend, and gentle soul who entered eternal rest surrounded by grace and peace.
Born on July 26, 1944, in Evanston, Illinois, to George Clinton Merrick Jr. and Ann Ballinger Merrick, Charlotte was a gift from God-a beacon of kindness, humility, and radiant joy. Her life reflected a deep and abiding love not only for those around her but for all of God's creation.
Charlotte attended the University of California, Berkeley, where her curiosity and love of learning blossomed. She made her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she found joy and success as both a real estate agent and an interior designer-careers that allowed her to share her eye for beauty and her heart for others.
More than her accomplishments, Charlotte's life was defined by her love: for her family, whom she cared for faithfully; for her community, where she listened with patience, laughed with children, and watched every front yard performance with sincere delight; and for the world around her, especially the garden where she felt closest to nature and to God.
She was also a gifted songwriter, penning 27 heartfelt songs that she donated to the Library of Congress-a legacy of love and creativity that endures beyond her earthly life.
Charlotte shared her days with Roscoe, a rescue dog she adopted and loved deeply. With tender devotion, she gave Roscoe a home filled with safety, affection, and joy, reminding all who knew her that love for animals is part of God's calling to care for His creation.
Above all, Charlotte lived a life of quiet faith. She saw God's presence in the details-in laughter shared, in blooms in her garden, in Roscoe's companionship, and in the people, she met along the way. She was a servant-hearted woman who truly lived out the words of Micah 6:8: "To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
She is deeply missed by her loving husband, Joseph Wear, her circle of cherished friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her warmth, humor, and unshakeable grace.
As we say goodbye for now, we take comfort in knowing Charlotte rests in the arms of her Creator, reunited with her parents and held in eternal peace. May her spirit continue to inspire us to love fully, give generously, walk gently on this earth, and trust in the promise of everlasting life.
