Charlotte Ann Mitchell, 88, died surrounded by her loved ones at her bedside on October 26th of 2024. She was born on November 13th, 1935, in Canton Illinois, the daughter of Alonzo Kennedy and Blanche (Burton) Kennedy.
Charlotte graduated from Canton High School, class of 1954. Following Graduation, she began working in the nursing health field at Cottage Hospital. It was there that she met the love of her life, George E. Mitchell, and married him on May 9th of 1959; The couple settled in Canton Illinois, where George began his career at International Harvester, allowing Charlotte to embody her love as homemaker for their larger family.
Charlotte's first love was always her family, especially the interpersonal time spent with her parents daily, while caring for them. She was the "cook" of all cooks and loved hosting holiday feasts with her mother, and later with her daughters, extending love to family, and friends.
Later in the 1970s/80's, and because of her love for both sales and people, Charlotte prospered as a Tupperware Manager, shining as a great businesswoman in the Central Illinois region. Once retired out of sales, Charlotte concentrated on caring for her parents' health care needs, and of course, continued raising her large family. In her later years, playing bunko with a group of friends was one of her greatest pastimes, not to mention time spent with her beloved, and longest time friend, Marilyn. Everyone who knew mom knew that she loved listening to Elvis Presley and collected Elvis's memorabilia.
Charlotte was beloved by everyone who ever encountered her. "FAMILY" was her sole purpose for living, and in her family's eyes, not only was she the "classiest" lady around, but her beauty shined inside out. To know her, was to respect and love her. She will always be thought of as the mother we were blessed to have and will forever miss. No doubt, she has earned a first-class ticket to heaven.
Charlotte was predeceased by her son, Gregory Scott Mitchell, Father, Alonzo Kennedy, Mother, Blanche (Burton) Kennedy, Granddaughter, Trisha Mitchell, Brothers Darrel Kennedy, Paul Burton, Steven Kennedy, and Robert "Bob" Kennedy, and her late husband, George E Mitchell.
Survivors are her brother, Richard Kennedy of Arizona, Son, Craig Allen Mitchell of Canton; Daughter Georgeann (Mitchell) Thompson of Canton; Daughter, Dannielle R Mitchell of Canton; Daughter, Michelle (Donald) Stockham of Canton; Daughter, Nicole (James) Wilder of Canton. Other survivors are her grandchildren; Christopher Leighton of Canton; Stephanie (Tim) Smith of Canton; Tara Ann Mitchell of Dunlap; Steven Mitchell of Colorado; David Thompson of Canton; Tre Mitchell of Peoria; Zachary Wilder of Tennessee; Nathaniel Mitchell of Canton; Christian Becker of Canton; Charlotte Wilder of Canton; Kennedy Wilder of Canton; Peyton Stockham of Canton; Drew Stockham of Canton, and Alana Stockham of Canton. Charlotte also has fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to both Kenneth Krock of Graham Health for taking such great care of their mother (grandmother) and for going over and beyond in caring for the person they love the most in the world. Another heartfelt thank you to the Compassus Hospice Team for their dedicated time, commitment and care that was given during the end of mom's life. The comfort they provided to our mother will forever be noted in our hearts. A noted thank you to her daughter, Michelle, our mother's main full-time care provider. So much love to you for being totally committed to the centerpiece of our family.
