Charlotte Jean Shockley, age 73 of East Prairie, MO, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Mercy-Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born November 26, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, MO, to the late Wayne Jackson Haines and Evelyn Marie Stephenson Haines, and was a graduate of East Prairie High School class of 1968.
Charlotte was a homemaker as well as a farmer. She helped with the family farm for many years and could do just about anything. She was known to her family as a "Jack of all trades, master of none." She was also a hair stylist, and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and canning. She was proud of her yard and flower garden and loved watching her hummingbirds. Most of all she enjoyed her koi and goldfish pond, sharing many fun times there with her grandchildren. She was a member of Barnes Ridge Baptist Church for many years.
She was married to Bruce William Shockley for 53 years; he preceded her in death May 4, 2024. Together they shared a wonderful life.
Surviving is one son, Heath Bruce Wayne Shockley of East Prairie, MO; one daughter, Heather Yant (Steve) of Sikeston, MO; five grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Shelbie Lacole Shockley (Brandon), Corbin Pemberton, Ali-Brooke Yant and Braylan Cade; and seven great grandchildren, Tucker Wayne Johnson, Amelia Jade Johnson, Emma Jean Johnson, Ace-Lynn Marie Shockley, Regan Hopper, Aubree Hopper and Charley Achter; and her brother-in-law, Don Elwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her only sibling, Sharon Elwell.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral services will be held in the Shelby Chapel Thursday, April 10,2025, at 11 a.m. with Steve Barbre of New Madrid officiating, assisted by Ronald Pipkin.
Cremation will follow, with her ashes to join those of her husband, Bruce.
Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
