Cherry Elizabeth Morris

Cherry Elizabeth Worry Morris, 68, of New Waverly, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by her children.

Cherry was born on February 19, 1957, in San Augustine, Texas, to George Freeman Worry and Edna Juanita Bradberry Worry. A former longtime resident of Anahuac, she made New Waverly her home during the past year.

Cherry was a proud graduate of San Augustine High School. She went on to earn her associate degree from Lee College and later completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Houston. She dedicated her career to shaping young minds as an elementary teacher at Anahuac ISD before retiring.

A devoted member of Smith Point Community Church, Cherry had a deep passion for education, a love for cooking, and a lifelong habit of reading-especially her cherished Bible. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her treasured grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Curtis Dee Morris; her son, Christopher Dee Morris; and her grandson, Matthew Henry Morris.

She is survived by her loving children: daughter Christina D. Hart and son Clayton D. Morris, and his wife, Olivia; her sisters Rita Worry and Carol Worry; her brothers Ricky Worry and wife Robin, Joe Worry and wife Cindy; and her lifelong friend and honorary brother, Henry Pilgreen.

Cherry's legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Natalie and Hayes Hart; Cameron and Cade Morris; Joshua, Hannah, Christian, Grace, Asher, and Seth Morris; and Brianna Keller. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends-including her devoted companion, Arthur Prejean.

Cherry will be remembered for her strength, grace, and unwavering love for her family. Her warmth, wisdom, and faith left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
