Cheryl A. (Barron) Brayfield, 58, of Colchester, CT, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, one year and 12 days after losing her loving husband and best friend of 32 years, Jeffery C. Brayfield. Cheryl and Jeff’s family and friends find peace in knowing they are reunited once again.

Cheryl was born on May 30, 1966 in Skowhegan, Maine, to the late Wallace and Georgette (Lagasse) Barron. She graduated from Southington High School. She held multiple positions, such as business analyst and most recently, project manager, in the insurance industry for 38 years. She was so dedicated to her job and worked full-time through this journey up until two weeks ago. She was currently employed by NLC Insurance in Norwich, CT. NLC and their entire team were nothing short of amazing to Cheryl. She held the entire team in the highest regard.

She enjoyed the outdoors: boating, snowmobiling, kayaking, and karaoke anytime and anywhere. She especially loved spending time at "CAMP," her home in New Hampshire, where she intended to live out her retirement. She loved, loved and adored her precious dog, Sofi, who literally never left her side through her journey. Her grandchildren, Emma and Mia, were most precious to her. She and Emma shared an indescribable bond that can only be described as “PRICELESS.” Cheryl had a beautiful soul that will be missed by countless friends whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime.

Cheryl is survived by her son Corey Keyworth, her brothers Wallace “Buck” Barron and Kare Hamlin of Readfield, ME, Rusty Barron of Bingham, ME, and her sister, Trina Waterman of Bingham, ME, her granddaughters Emma Woodward and Mia Perry; her mother-in-law, Pat Ferguson; her sister and brother-in-law, Robyn and Bruce Iverson of Southington; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Her LIFELONG friends of 50 years, Pam Locke of Bingham, ME, and Jolene Dinello of Ft. Myers, FL, along with what she called her “LADY TRIBE” and a very “SPECIAL” large group of Ride or Die lifelong FRIENDS! The ECHO Cancer Foundation became a vital part of Cheryl’s life in the last 18 months. They became her second family and she had the utmost adoration for the entire TEAM. Dana inparticular turned into what Cheryl called her Personal ANGEL. Words cannot express what the entire ECHO team meant to Cheryl.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to The ECHO Cancer Foundation, 330 Washington Street, Suite 220, Norwich, CT 06360 (https://echoassociates.org/foundation/).
