Cheryl Elaine Carlton, 68, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on October 30, 2023.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 3, 2023, at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
Cheryl was born in Plainview, Texas on September 28, 1955, to Mark Edwin Stuart, Sr. and Dorthy Stuart. She graduated top of her class at the Amarillo College Nursing Program.
Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved hosting Thanksgiving at her home each year. Some of her favorite pastimes included traveling, going to the lake, and camping in the mountains. All-in-all, she loved being outdoors and would often say that she needed Vitamin D for her soul. She also loved watching NFL football on Sundays. Cheryl had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved spending a Friday night at the movies or attending a good concert.
Cheryl married Tom Owensby and together they had their daughter, Alicia. Cheryl was made a widow as a young mother. Later she married Marc Carlton and they had a son, Brian. Through their union, she gained a daughter and son, Joy and Daniel Carlton.
Cheryl was a devout Christian and a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She helped with the food ministry program at church and provided funeral meals and meals for families that had a loved one in the hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Edwin Stuart, Sr.; sister, Jackie Stuart Alexander; and mother, Dorthy Stuart McKee.
She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Easter and husband Tyrone, of Amarillo, Texas; son, Brian Carlton and wife Crystal, of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Tyra Easter, of Amarillo, Texas, Zachary Carlton, of Amarillo, Texas, and Rileigh, Josiah, and Tyler, of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Marka Herring and husband Steve of Quinlan, Texas, and Lori Roberts, of Canyon, Texas; brother, Mark Stuart, Jr., of Amarillo, Texas; and several nieces and a nephew.
