Cheryl Dittloff, 75, a longtime resident of Pompton Plains, passed away on October 4, 2025.

Born in Paterson, raised in Clifton, Cheryl was the eldest daughter of Edward and Marian Hooyman. She dedicated her life to caring for others-whether tending to her beloved son or the many patients she compassionately served throughout her long career as a nurse. She spent much of her career at Christian Health, where she worked her way up to charge nurse and retired as a medical coder.

Cheryl was known for her kind and giving spirit. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. A woman of faith, she was a member of the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church.

In her free time, Cheryl enjoyed crocheting, and her handmade blankets and stuffed animals became treasured gifts to her family and friends.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Matthew Hooyman and his wife Bonnie; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia; and her siblings, Tom and Ruth. Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her brother, Ed.

Family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 am on 10/11/25 at Scanlan's-Where Life is Celebrated. A graveside service will be held immediately following at The First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church, 415 Boulevard, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.
