With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cheryl "Dee" Hooks on December 20, 2023. Cheryl, fondly known as Dee to her loved ones, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Throughout her life journey, she found joy in various hobbies and interests. She delighted in cooking meals for her loved ones and solving jigsaw puzzles. Additionally, Dee had a creative side and enjoyed arts and crafts activities. She also found entertainment while watching the Home Shopping Network.
Family meant everything to Dee. Her memory will be forever treasured by her loving family. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Blake Hooks and his wife Nicole, Jacob Paul Hooks and his wife Abby; her daughter Chasity Nicole Hooks with her husband Steve; her sisters "Fran" Wiltz, "Angie" LaHaye, and Millie LaHaye; and her grandchildren, Brianna, Ryleigh, Addyson, Cheyenne, Baylee, and Whitleigh.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ira “Boo” Paul Hooks, Jr.; her parents, Frank LaHaye and Priscilla Leger; her brother, London LaHaye; her father-in-law, Ira Hooks Sr., her mother-in-law, Mary Stoute Hooks, her brothers-in-law, Carl "Punkin" Hooks and Louis Wiltz, and her sister-in-law, Kathy LaHaye.
Dee will forever be remembered for her fierce love for others and her ability to make everyone around her feel cherished. She had a gentle spirit that touched the lives of many. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A visitation will take place on December 22nd from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and continue on December 23rd from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. On the same day, a Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs at 10:00 AM. Following the service, Dee will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
Pallbearers will be Joey Fontenot, Hunter Bolfa, Chad Bolfa, Matthew Hooks, Jacob Hooks, Ryleigh Hooks, Brianna Hooks, and Tanner Thibodeaux.
In this time of sorrow and remembrance, let us find solace in the memories we shared with her.
