Chester Dale Horton, age 88, a lifelong resident of Bloomington Indiana, passed away at his residence late Saturday evening with his family by his side. He was born October 9, 1936 to Chester Field Horton and Rosie Reynolds White. He had a various array of professional careers, starting out as a licensed electronic technician working for RCA and PTS and then into his own electronic TV tuner business and finally owned two different car lots in Bloomington, the first one was featured in the movie Bloomington filmed Breaking Away. He leaves behind his wife of 70 years Loretta K. Hughes Horton, son, Ricky Dale Horton, and his wife, Karen, and daughter Sylvia A. Franklin. Also surviving are his grandchildren Heidi Dale Horton, Brittany Lee Bradley and husband Daniel, and great grandchildren Annabelle Grace Bradley, Lily Ann Bradley, and Blaine Joseph Bradley. One of his six sisters remain, Rebecca Calabrese and husband Jeff. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert W. Horton, sisters, Louise Lawson, Lois Bennett, Shirley Sipes, Jewel Darnell, and Helen Howard, and a grandchild Hailey Dawn Horton. He also had many loving nieces and nephews and enjoyed the many visits each year from Michael Sipes, and was very close to his nephew Ron Sipes. He had great love for all of his nieces and nephews, as well as his brothers and sisters in Christ at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where he and Loretta attended for over 58 years. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37 is handling the arrangements and a graveside service will be conducted Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Clear Creek Cemetery at 10:30AM.
