Chester "Chet" Franklin Lipner, 81, of Lake Worth, Florida passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at his home.
Chet was born October 8, 1942 in Washington D.C. to Alice and Leon Lipner. He moved to Queens, NY when he was 13 years old. Chet loved playing stickball, basketball and baseball with his friends and spent a lot of time at Yankee Stadium and the Polo Grounds growing up. He dreamed of becoming a firefighter.
Chet married his high school sweetheart, Eileen Frances Mandell, on November 27, 1963 when he was 21 years old. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics and Hofstra University in NY and worked as an electrical engineer for AT and T in NJ for over 30 years. He was a devoted volunteer fireman for two decades in his community of North Brunswick, NJ. Being a volunteer fireman was Chet's passion and helped to fulfill his lifelong dream.
He and Eileen moved to Pikesville, MD for several years before moving to South Florida to retire and be close to family. Eileen's parents and sister lived in Florida and they wanted everyone to be together.
Chet was an avid runner, running almost every single day for pleasure, and a great joy in his life was competing in races every weekend he could. He also enjoyed swimming, the beach, fishing, watching and coaching basketball and baseball, and spending time with his family. Chet was a devoted husband to wife Eileen, celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary right before his passing. He was a loving father to Marci and Jay and an amazing grandfather to his five grandchildren, Ethan, Mya, Sydney, Emma and Madison. Chet was hardwired to be a grandfather. His grandchildren were his everything. He spent every free moment attending his grandchildren's school functions, birthday parties, sporting events and important milestone celebrations. He never missed anything of importance for any of his grandchildren.
Chet will be remembered in life as a kind, caring, and truly selfless man who never had a bad word to say about anybody. His legacy will be that of a man who loved his family and friends deeply. He was the best husband, father, friend and "Poppy" ever. He will be greatly missed by all.
