With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Steven Held, age 80, who departed this life on October 11, 2025 in Boca Raton, Florida. He was a devoted partner to the love of his life, Jennifer Suna Randall. Jennifer was a true partner who shared in both his professional work life as well as his passions. Ken first met Jen in 1963. He subsequently found her again in 2005, when their love story began anew.
Ken leaves behind his beloved son Seth, his "pride and joy." They both loved films and spent many memorable times together at the movie theater. They also enjoyed going to their favorite Italian restaurant, sharing stories and laughs. They had a very special father/son bond.
Ken was born on August 1, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business/Foreign Languages. Ken's first career was teaching languages at Bedford-Stuyvesant. He was always passionate about teaching and was eternally curious. Ken spoke 5 languages proficiently, conversing with the locals during his many travels abroad. He was known for his outgoing personality, sense of humor and charm.
Ken was President/CEO of Joseph Held Co., Inc., an insurance agency founded by his late grandfather in New York City in 1898. He was very proud to carry on his family's legacy for over 50 years.
Ken was also known for his deep passion of doo-wop music, keeping the music alive for over 40 years through his weekly radio show, "Ken Held's Doo-Wop Shop," along with the many live stage performances he hosted. He will be greatly missed by his many long-term fans and followers.
Ken also had a passion for exotic cars. He was a member of the Ferrari Club, where his relationship with other collectors was a source of great enjoyment.
Kenny was truly a Renaissance man who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother Violet Held, father Sidney Held, and nephew Kit Held Johnson. He is survived by his Devoted partner, Jennifer Suna Randall, son Seth Held, daughter-in-law Tammy Held, and sister Donna Held.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sinai Memorial Chapels, 15120 Jog Rd. Delray Beach, FL 33446, on October 16, 2025 at noon.

I grew up listening to Ken when he was on Majic 102.7 in South Florida and later I had the pleasure of producing his radio show, The Doo Wop Shop, on 1040 WLVJ and later 850 WFTL. I worked with Kenny for nearly 15 years and everything I learned about the first generation of rock and roll music, I learned from him. My deepest sympathies to Jen and Seth.

How very sad. Kenny and I were friends during our time at Lawrence High School. We had many fun times together and always a lot of laughs. A very lovely man whose absence will be felt by many. RIP

Knew Kenny well in H.S. Loved talking and kidding around with him. He was only one of a very few who signed my yearbook. He and his long running show will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family and everyone who knew him.
