Chester Rudy "Chet" Mullet, age 75, of Orrville, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Aultman Orrville Hospital after a sudden illness. His loving family was by his side.
He was born on March 10, 1950, in Lodi, Ohio, to Rudy and Aldine Elizabeth (Hartel) Mullet and has been a Wayne County resident for all of his life.
After graduating from high school, he then served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 - 1973.
He later married Tammy Kaye Henry on December 4, 1982, in Moreland. She survives.
He previously worked as a truck driver for O.A.R.D.C. in Wooster for over 35 years, transporting bulk feed. Following his retirement, he then worked at Lighthouse Pools and Spas Co. in Wooster, delivering water for pools and spas for over 10 years, along with driving buses for Waynedale School District.
Chester was selected as the Apple Creek Citizen of the Year in 2001.
He previously was involved with Hotstove Baseball, girls fastpitch softball; Happy Hopper 4-H advisor for over 10 years; Waynedale Scoreboard; a baseball and softball coach; a basketball referee; and was a very devoted Ohio State Football and Guardians Baseball fan for many years. He loved spending time with his family and especially being with his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Tammy, he is survived by his daughters, Brooke Mullet (Will Bridges) of Orrville and Devin (Joseph) Moore of Wooster; grandchildren, Breanna and Brayden Ratliff and Bailey Mullet all of Orrville, Rylee Mullet and Jacob Moore all of Wooster; a brother, George (Cindy) Mullet of Smithville and a sister, Janice Fry of Apple Creek; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews and host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Harold Fry, a nephew, Gavon Mullet, and his faithful canine companions, "Blitzen " and "Buster" Mullet.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 18th, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster.
Services will then take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor James Lance officiating, followed by interment at Apple Creek Cemetery, where military honors will also be rendered.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the funeral home to help defray expenses, which will be most appreciated.
