Chester Glenn Salter, 64, of Beaufort, passed away on October 2, 2025. Born on August 23, 1961, Chester spent his life rooted in the coastal communities of his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Stacy Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior from 1-2pm at the church.
Chester dedicated over two decades of his professional life to Walmart, where he worked as a sales associate in various capacities for 23 years. His long-standing commitment to his work reflected a strong sense of responsibility and consistency that those around him came to rely upon.
Beyond his career, Chester was deeply involved in Down East Scouting for 18 years. His dedication to scouting left a lasting impression on many young lives throughout the region. His involvement demonstrated a passion for mentorship and community service that extended far beyond the workplace, earning him many life-long friends.
Chester is survived by sons; Scott Salter (Christina), of Straits, NC, and Adam Salter (Ashley), of Greenville, NC; daughter, Allison Warren, of Beaufort; his siblings; sisters Terry Bruce (Walt), of Tracy, CA, Barbara Day, of Stacy, NC; and brother Anthony Salter (Laura), of Sea Level, NC; and grandchildren; Carolina Salter, Parker Salter, and Myles Salter.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Major and Evelyn Salter, and by his brother Gary Salter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to Friends of Scouting Downeast, PO Box 94, Smyrna, NC, 28579.
