Chester Michael Scott, affectionately known as "Chet" to his friends and loved ones, was a beacon of joy in the lives of everyone he met. Born on March 25, 1954, in the heart of Parkville, MD, Chet's laughter-filled journey came full circle as he passed away peacefully in his beloved hometown on August 26, 2025. He was a devoted husband to his wife Ginger, a loving father to his sons Mike and Joe and his daughter Jennifer. Adored grandfather to Dominic and Daphne. Favored uncle to many nieces and nephews. Cherished brother to Lee, Alan, and Larry as well as the late Gordon and Ron who he is now reunited with. Chet's family will miss his larger-than-life presence, as will all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Chet's legacy began at Parkville High School, where he graduated in 1972, undoubtedly leaving a trail of laughter in his wake. His passion for education led him to Towson University, where he graduated in 1976, and later earned his Master's degree in Education in 1986. Chet's career as an educator began at St. Ursula's school in 1976, eventually bringing his talents to BCPS, where he became a familiar and beloved figure at Shady Spring and Hillendale Elementary schools. His leadership shone brightest as the Principal of Owings Mills Elementary from 1993 until his retirement in 2019, where he was not just a principal but a mentor, comedian-in-residence, and friend.

A man of faith, Chet lived his Christian values with a smile, a joke, and an open heart. But it was his family that truly lit up his world. Chet was part of a big, boisterous family, and he relished every moment with them. Whether he was cracking jokes, flipping burgers at one of his legendary cookouts, or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, Chet's happiness was infectious.

An outgoing man, Chet never met a stranger-every conversation was an opportunity for a new friendship or at the very least, a good laugh. His humor was as boundless as his generosity, and his zest for life was evident to all. Chet was also a man of many hobbies. He had an enduring love affair with swimming, ensuring that every home he bought was complemented with a pool. He swung his golf clubs with the same gusto he used to serve a pickleball, and his cookouts were epic, not just for the food but for the belly laughs that came free with every burger.

Chet and Ginger's condo in Cape Canaveral, Florida, was their slice of paradise, a place of warmth, waves, and winter escapes shared with friends and family. Vacations were synonymous with feasting for Chet, a man who exercised not for health, but for the sheer pleasure of indulging in his next delicious meal. He loved ice cream, and enjoyed every scoop with the enthusiasm of a child.

His playful spirit came alive with his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless games and adventures. Chet's love for his dogs, Oscar and Miley, was evident in every walk they took and every game they played. And when it came time to relax, Chet was a canasta connoisseur, shuffling and dealing with the best of them.

Chester "Chet" Michael Scott was the embodiment of funny, loving, and generous. His life was a masterclass in making every moment count, in finding the humor in everyday situations, and in loving unconditionally. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, let us remember his laughter, his warmth, and the countless jokes that will continue to bring smiles to our faces. The world was a brighter place with Chet in it, and his legacy of joy will live on in the hearts he touched.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Chester's life at Evans Funeral Chapel- 8800 Harford Rd, Parkville MD 21234, for a visitation on Thursday, October 23 from 3-7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11:00am at the same location.
