Chong Yop Hamilton, a beloved mother, wife, and dedicated homemaker, passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2025. Born on December 10, 1936, in South Korea, she grew up to embody a spirited personality, marked by her fierce loyalty to family and unwavering dedication as an Army spouse.
Throughout her life, Chong's proudest accomplishments were her roles as a devoted wife to her husband, James Hamilton, and a loving mother to her children, M.J. Pelkey, Donald Marshall, and Robert Marshall. As a cherished grandmother, she took great joy in her grandson, Christian Pelkey, nurturing and guiding him with love and wisdom. Additionally, she extended her heart to her stepdaughters, Carlis Helton and Bobbie Kassay, ensuring that all family ties were celebrated with warmth and affection.
Chong found joy in many hobbies, from crocheting to spending time in the great outdoors, especially by the ocean. Her spirited nature and dedication to family life resonated through everything she did, from caring for her loved ones to engaging in her interests. She created a home filled with love and laughter, a sanctuary for family gatherings and cherished memories.
Her life and legacy will be honored during a visitation on November 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Copperas Cove Location, located at 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM. Chong will then be laid to rest at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, with a graveside service taking place at 2:00 PM.
Chong Yop Hamilton is remembered fondly for her warmth, creativity, and undying devotion to her family. She leaves an enduring legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she cherished.
