Chris Harvey Lampel, 66, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 5, 2025. Born on September 16, 1958, in Ely, Minnesota, to Harvey and Gloria (Davidson) Lampel, Chris was a devoted father of five and a cherished grandfather to seven.
Raised in a home rooted in strong Christian values, Chris's faith became a cornerstone of his life, deepening in his later years as he became an active member of Gateway Fellowship Northwest. He graduated from Cook County High School and attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth before embarking on a successful career in restaurant management and sales that spanned 30+ years.
Chris was known for his warm smile, eternal optimism, and quiet faith. His Finnish heritage instilled in him the spirit of Sisu-strength through adversity-which he exemplified throughout his life. A lover of the outdoors, skiing, and the Minnesota Vikings, Chris found joy in sharing these passions and passing them down to his family.
Survived by his former wife, Teresa Lampel, mother to their children: Matthew, his wife Martha, and their children Jasmine, Ariel, Luke & Liam. Michael, and his daughter Nihma. Natalie, her husband William Wells and their children Leah & Hudson. Eric, his wife Lauren, and their children Kinsley & Preston and Daniel Lampel. As well as his siblings Monte Lam-pel and Danita Lampel. He is preceded in death by his mother Gloria Lampel, father Harvey Lampel, and sister-in-law Carrie Lampel.
His legacy of love and resilience continues to inspire those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Gateway Fellowship Northwest Church in San Antonio, TX (10907 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78254) on February 15 at 2 p.m. with cookies and refreshments to follow. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate to know him."
To honor Chris's roots in northern Minnesota, where his father served as a Forest Service surveyor, memorial trees can be planted in Superior National Forest through "A Living Tribute" (www.alivingtribute.org).
