Christopher Alan Shaw left his earthly home on Friday, November 1, 2024. A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas. A memorial service to celebrate Chris' life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Born in Greenville, Texas on January 15, 1971 to Doyle and Emma Shaw, Chris spent most of his life living in or around Commerce, Texas. Chris married the love of his life, Jeannie Creed Shaw in September of 2021. Left to honor his life and cherish his memories are his wife Jeannie, mother Emma, brother Doyle Shaw and wife Kimberly; in-laws Jimmy and Jody Creed and James Dawson, and numerous other family and a host of friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father Doyle and brother Danny.
Chris was a proud father to Elizabeth and Brandon Joslin, Shelby and Jacob Haygood, Blake and Bailey Shaw, Whitney Shaw and Mattie, Jimmie Creed and Clayton, Dane Creed, Jarron Mixon, and special "kids" Catherine and Andrew Johnson and Denver Hilliard and Ashley. His grandchildren are Elijah and Noa Joslin, Harper and Hendrix Haygood, Harrison and Remi Shaw, along with Olivia, Bailey, and Henry Johnson. Chris played a large role and left a huge impact on his brother-in-law, Crash Dawson.
Being born into a large family and marrying into a large family brought numerous nieces and nephews to include Kasey and husband Josh; Jessie and husband Randy; Cody, Kati and husband Taylor; and Seth; seven great nephews and nine great nieces, not including those on his wife's side.
Chris was a man of many talents. He excelled in sports in his youth and is a former law enforcement officer. He spent many years in the construction industry building fences, metal buildings, or roofing homes. Most people met Chris in the automotive industry and he quickly became everyone's "go to" car guy. Chris played football at Commerce High School and went on to play at East Texas State University, where he was inducted into the ETSU Hall of Fame in 2013. Chris was most proud to be a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and will be honored as such.
Chris never met a stranger and left his mark on everyone he met. Whether it be childhood friends, work friends, or those he met in social settings, everyone knew who Big Shaw was, and if you knew him, you loved him. Chris was once told while working in law enforcement to go out and "make that ground quake" and that is how he lived his life, he made the ground quake.
