She was born on December 31, 1936 in Mannheim, Germany to Erwin and Johanna (Anselm) Daiger. Christa worked for many years at Greenwood Village South and was a homemaker in her later years. She enjoyed her trips back to Germany to visit with family and had a passion for gardening, accumulating a very large collection of flowers and various plants. Her love of her garden was only surpassed by her love of family.
She married James "Jim" Murphy on March 11, 1960. She is survived by their three children; Darlene (Richard) Sipes of Whiteland, Karen (Dusty) Willever of Greenwood and James Murphy Jr. of Greenwood, one sister Ellen (Daiger) Benton of Monroe North Carolina. Seven grandchildren; Calvin Murphy, Derrick Willever, Christina Willever, Kyle Murphy, Lisa Sipes, Camron Murphy, Hunter Murphy and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Johanna Daiger, her Husband James "Jim" Murphy and her brother Heinrich Daiger of Lahr, Germany.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11am-1pm at Jessen Funeral Home - 729 N. US Hwy 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. Service will begin at 1pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Greenwood Cemetery - 734 N. Morgantown Road, Greenwood, IN 46142.
