On August 7, 2024, Christene Joyce (Simpson) Watts peacefully passed away surrounded by family in Florence, Texas, at the age of 77. Chris was born on February 11, 1947, in Austin, Texas, to Archie Herman and Irvalee Simpson. Chris lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.
Chris graduated from Dripping Springs High School and spent her early career with Texas Parks and Wildlife. However, her true passion was being a homemaker, a role she embraced with pride and joy. Chris's home was a testament to her love for her family, filled with the products of her hobbies, such as crocheted home décor, clothing for dolls, and beautifully tended gardens.
A lifelong member of Peace Christian Church at Mohomet, she was deeply involved in church activities and community service, reflecting her kind-hearted and generous nature.
Chris is survived by her loving husband, Sammy Lee Watts and their large and loving family, including nine children: Sheila (David) Lastraps, David (Lynn) Bostick, Ron (Andrea) Bostick, Teresa (Shane) Presswood, Luther Ray (Lynn) Bostick, Randy (Bobbie) Watts, Tina (Rick) Gray, Clinton Watts, and Shera Watts; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind two brothers, Floyd and Fred. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Herman and Irvalee Simpson; her sons: Victor Lee Bostick, Harvey, and Robert; her grandson, Christopher; four sisters, Dorothy, Joan, Pauline, and Ruby; and seven brothers, Wilburn, Jimmy, Calvin, Billy, Pete, Charles, and Gene.
The family and friends will gather at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 to celebrate her life at Peace Christian Church at Mohomet, with arrangements handled by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium in Georgetown, Texas. Chris's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and faith will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew her. Light refreshments will be served following the service at the church located at 10451 E FM 243 Bertram, TX 78645.
