Christie Ann Kerr, 83, passed away after a brief illness in Roatan, Honduras on Monday, January 8, 2024, while on vacation with her children. She was born on September 14, 1940, to Robert and Erma Davis Malone in rural Delta, Iowa. She graduated from Delta High School in 1958. After a brief stint of working in Des Moines as a secretary, she moved back to Delta. On November 2, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart Donald Kerr at the Delta Methodist Church in Delta. She was a stay at home mom until her youngest child was in middle school, when she started working for the Keokuk County court house until she retired from the Treasurer’s office in 2002. Christie kept very busy as all of her children participated in multiple sports, and she never missed a one unless there were two activities on the same night (when she had to choose – she did prefer softball over baseball) Christie was an avid reader, participated on a few bowling leagues and an active member of the Delta Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and often followed their activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don on May 23, 2017; her in-laws Howard and Kate Kerr; four sisters-in-law Venita Stull, Wanda Alderson, Kathleen Cline, and Doris Moore; and three brothers-in-law Emery, Robert and Kenneth Kerr.
She is survived by her four children Shelley (Lindsay) Greiner of Keota; Marty (Connie) Kerr of Cedar Rapids; Mickey (Jodi) Kerr of Fairfield; Stacy (Kraig) Koehler of New Sharon, nine grandchildren Keaton (Jaclyn) Greiner, Kalen (Shelby) Greiner, Kolton (Lexi) Greiner, Kirby and Maddie Kerr, Courtney and Hanna Kerr (Mark Lenius), Chase and Katie Koehler, two step grandchildren Nik and Alex (Andie) Koehler, seven great grandchildren Campbell, Jorja, Lainey, James, Jaxon, Kash and Scottie Greiner.
