Christina Wiatr Murdock, 91, of Duluth, Georgia, entered into rest on June 17, 2025. Chris was born on October 16, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Andrew and Victoria Wiatr.
Chris, a devoted mother, an accomplished professional, and beloved friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and resilience.
She graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended Rosary College, setting the foundation for a lifelong commitment to learning and hard work. Chris began her career at International Minerals Corporation in Chicago. Her journey then led her into the foreign service, where she served with distinction as secretary to the Deputy Embassy Ambassador in Paraguay, South America.
After dedicating nineteen years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother, Chris returned to the workforce with determination and grace. She went on to enjoy a second, decades-long career, holding roles with DeKalb Community Council on Aging, Emory Clinic, and Quest Diagnostics. She officially retired at the remarkable age of 76.
Throughout her life, Chris called many places home, including Illinois, South America, California, Michigan, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia.
Throughout her life, Chris was an avid traveler. In her twenties, she visited Mexico and Haiti. In her later years, she could often be found enjoying the sun and sand at her favorite beaches in St. Simons and Pensacola. Another favorite vacation spot was California. She had a deep love for music, movies, shopping, and dining out. A true nature enthusiast, Chris had a special way with animals-especially cats, who were naturally drawn to her gentle spirit. She also enjoyed flowers and the ocean.
Above all, Chris was an incredible mother and a cherished friend to her beloved children, Richard and Joan. She will be best remembered for her unwavering positive outlook on life and her gift for seeing the best in everyone she met.
Chris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
Chris is survived by her devoted daughter, Joan Murdock, with whom she resided in her final years; son, Richard Murdock; sister, Margaret Iwanski; one niece, four nephews, and numerous cousins.
Chris is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Wiatr and her mother, Victoria Wiatr.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, July 15, at 11:00AM at the Catholic Church of St. Monica in Duluth, Georgia.
Donations may be made to the Catholic Church of St. Monica or any animal organization that touches your heart.

My heart is saddened in the loss of such a sweet friend. We shared many things and I will always remember how true hearted she was. She was so kind and so much fun.
