Christina (O'Herron) Regula
Heaven opened its gates to receive an Angel on Earth, Christina (O'Herron) Regula, on April 30, 2025. Christina was born on September 2, 1982, and passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA from complications of double-organ transplant surgery. She was the beloved wife of Adam S. Regula and the daughter of Mary Ann O'Herron and the late Lawrence M. O'Herron. Christina was a radiant light to all who knew her. Her life's journey was one of unconditional love, compassion for the human race, and a steadfast faith in God. She basked in the joy of practicing her Roman Catholic faith. Christina is survived by her husband, Adam S. Regula, and their daughter and son, Alexandria M. and Peter L. Regula, Horseheads, NY; mother, Mary Ann O'Herron, Big Flats, NY; grandmother, Mary C. Liquori, Elmira, NY; brother, Kevin O'Herron Golas (Lisa), New Tripoli, PA; mother-in-law, Colleen Mitchell, Horseheads, NY; father-in-law, Thomas Regula (Gina), Schenectady, NY; sister-in-law, Charlotte Regula Whitefield (Jonathon), Portland, OR; and grandfather-in-law, Dr. Donald Regula, Schenectady, NY. She also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adore her dearly. Among them, Albert "Kip" Capozzi (Diana), Elmira, NY; Connie Laprade (Paul), North Smithfield, RI; Philip Tangorre, Horseheads, NY; Kathleen M. Geary, Horseheads, NY and Kathleen Brown Shattuck, Rochester, NY; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who shared in her joyful spirit. She was predeceased by her father, Lawrence M. O'Herron, grandfather, Albert C. Capozzi, grandmother, Ann G. O'Herron and grandparents-in-law, Shirley and Vincent Mitchell. Christina received a Biology/Human Development degree from Cornell University and a Master of Nursing Science Degree and a Master of Nursing Education Degree from the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital and Keuka College, respectively. She worked in the cardiac step-down unit at U of R/Strong (where her voice could be heard singing Happy Birthday to her patients) and as a nursing instructor at GST BOCES and Arnot-Ogden Hospital. Although Christina's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her ever-powerful, everlasting spirit will inspire and uplift us forevermore. Christina lived life through the eyes of a child, a heart of strength and courage, demonstrating physical and mental fortitude, the voice of an angel, and a fierce determination to advocate, always pursuing for the greater good of humanity. Although her physical stature was small, she was a solid and challenging force for the greater good of family and community, and an advocate for the underprivileged whose voice went unheard.
When Christina passed, she was completing her work in furthering awareness in congenital heart disease in adults.
The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 12:00 (noon) at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Private interment, with committal prayers in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Christina's wish is that friends and family consider becoming a registered organ donor.
