Christine Marie Moon

Christine Marie Moon was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 04, 1940, to the late Sydney and Cora Wright. She was blessed to be a part of a large family with five siblings who preceded her in death: Marion, Rosolyn, Betty, and Allen. Christine attended Northwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated with honors. She was employed at Chrysler Warren Stamping Plant for 30 years. In October of 1960, Christine Johnson was united in holy matrimony to the late Booker T. Moon, and to this union, two children were born, Anita and Derrenna Moon.

Christine had a passion for serving in the house of the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. As a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Mack, sister Moon participated in the following ministries: Daughters of Zion, bible study, prayer ministry, and Sunday school scripture reading. Before attending Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, sister Moon was a member of Community AME Church of Ecorse, under the late Reverend Gerald Douglas Cardwell and Reverend Lisa Reynolds. She served on the nursing guild and the trustee board, sang in the choir, attended Sunday school and bible study, and was the president of the usher board.

Christine loved to read, bowl, and was an avid movie buff. She loved to attend exercise classes at Kemeny Center, Ecorse Recreation Center, and took AARP online classes. She loved to play bid whist with her neighboring friends at Park Plaza Apartments. Christine is preceded in death by her daughter, Derrenna Moon. She leaves to rejoice in her legacy, her daughter Anita Moon, her granddaughters, Allante and Tierra Moon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a service at 11 am. Christine will then be interred at Detroit Memorial Park, Redford, Michigan following the service at 1:00 pm.
