Services to celebrate and remember the life of Christopher Lee "Chris" Bennett will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea. Chris passed away at his home on Monday, November 4, 2025. He was 47 years old.
Born in Escondido, California on September 26, 1978, to Edward R. Bennett and Linda Sue (Plumer) O'Bryant. Chris was raised and educated in Escondido, and Oologah. On October 26, 2010, in Wheeler, Texas, Chris married the love of his life Rachael. They became a family with 4 children, Daniel, Cydney, Madison, and Chelsea. Chris provided for his family working in retail sales managing Native Medicine here in Chelsea.
A man that was all about family. Chris excelled at being a husband and father. He was actively involved in all his children's activities. He was his son's biggest fan at his football games and his daughter's biggest fan at her basketball games. When it came to wife Rachael, Chris preferred to have time with her over anyone else. He had the unique talent of talking to anybody. In fact, his family said he truly had the gift of "gab". Chris never met a stranger and was a true friend to anyone that needed one. He had the unique talent through conversation to relax people, and many times defuse controversy before it could escalate.
When free time did present itself, nothing was better than a round of golf with his "Brother from another Mother Cody." They were best friends and enjoyed the times they were together. Chris was a huge music fan and was always up for singing a little karaoke. The Illinois River was a favorite floating destination, and the day might be filled with a little bit of partaking of a little cannabis. When it came to sports Chris was a die-hard Sooner fan and on a professional level the Los Angeles Chargers were a favorite. Chris had a great sense of humor, and many would say he was the life of any party.
A young man that has left a huge legacy and footprint. Chris is survived by his wife Rachael, children, Cydney New and husband Zachariah, Madison Bennett and husband Erik Rutherford, Daniel Bennett and Chelsea Bennett, grandson, Henry New, sister, Sharon Walthour and husband Matthew, brothers, Timothy Harrison and wife Ivan, Che O'Bryant, and Ryan Bennett, sisters-in-law, Ashley Steed and husband Cody Bozarth, and Kaylin Hedlund, special nieces and nephews, Bradley Bozarth, Devin Bozarth, Rakaylee Jones, Jadis Jones, and Nelyse Steed, special brother from another mother, Cody Burch, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
