Christopher Brent Hawk, known simply (and insistently) as "Chris," of Erie, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in the same city where he was born 70 years earlier - a full-circle exit for a man who always did things his own way, in his own time.
Chris was many things: stubborn as the day is long, proud to a fault, sharp-witted, fiercely loyal, and quietly sentimental. He lived life on his own terms, with a healthy dose of sarcasm and an even healthier appreciation for good friends, a stiff drink, and a decent golf swing.
A longtime member of the Polish Falcons Nest 610 on 3rd Street, Chris could often be found sharing a drink, a story, or an unsolicited opinion. He spent many dedicated years working at Methodist Towers, where he was known for his reliability, work ethic, and signature dry humor.
Chris loved to ski, golf, and travel-often combining all three when possible. From mountain slopes to quiet back nines and far-off destinations, he was happiest when in motion, preferably with a suitcase in one hand and a beer in the other.
He is survived by his son, Max (wife, Steph); and grandchildren, Finley and Everett, who knew him as their ever-proud, nature-loving Papa. He passed down his love of the outdoors and his belief in knowing where you come from-and being damn proud of it.
Chris also leaves behind his longtime partner, Kathy Bartoe, her daughter, Kara (partner Jay), and their children, Noah, Olivia, Helen, Violet, Evie May, and Milo "Buddy". He is also survived by his brothers, Jeff and Billy, and their partners, along with many extended family members and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother; his father; his dear friend, Eileen Meyer; and many other friends he cared about deeply. His heart was big enough to hold a lot of people, and he never forgot those who meant something to him-even if he didn't always say it out loud.
He may have had strong opinions, but he had a stronger heart-generous with his time, his laughter, and his love. He didn't just tell you what he thought; he showed you what mattered.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and undoubtedly argued about for years to come.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Chris' life will be held at The Polish Falcons Nest 610, 431 East 3rd Street in Erie on Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In true Chris fashion, the family asks that you honor his legendary sense of comfort and independence by wearing shorts, no matter the weather-just like he always did.
Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.

Ah Chris. What can one say about him. We were married when we were kids. But life took us in other directions. We always loved each other and remained friends. We always had fun. I'm sad and heartbroken from his passing but I'll always remember his smile and laughter.
