Christopher Dwight Hinson was born on August 29, 1961, to Edward Dwight and Carolyn Purser Hinson in Union County, North Carolina. Chris was also blessed with a loving stepmother, Ella Dean Hinson. Chris went home to be with the Lord peacefully on October 7, 2025, surrounded by close family and friends, at the age of 64.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Unionville Baptist Church, 510 Baucom Rd, Unionville, NC 28110. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00PM until 3:45PM in the church sanctuary.
A proud Union County native, Chris grew up helping his father raise hogs on the family farm, earning him his lifelong nickname, “Hogman.” He carried the lessons of hard work, faith, and family from that farm throughout his life.
A lifelong brick mason, Chris took great pride in his work and the strength of his hands. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a steady provider and comforter to those he loved most. His famous words, “Everything's gonna be alright,” will forever echo in the hearts of his family. Chris loved the Lord deeply and lived with a humble spirit, always ready with a smile that could light up a room.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Elaine Hinson, and two daughters, Kelly Hinson (Kyle) and Cheryl Keziah (Landon). He was the proud “Pawpaw” to three precious granddaughters, Hadley, Ella Blake, and Abbie. Chris is also survived by his siblings, Lisa Bowers and Scott Hinson, as well as his stepsisters, Vicky Courtney and Venia Swinney. Additionally, he had several nieces and nephews whom he loved.
He was a fixer by nature, a man of strength, and a teacher of faith, sharing his love for the Lord with his daughters from an early age.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
