The family is being served by the O'Donnell Cookson Life Celebration Home of Quincy, IL.
Born on October 1, 1960, in Quincy, Illinois, Chris's zest for life and his ability to make lasting connections turned his journey into an extraordinary narrative of joy and kindness.
Chris's life was one filled with devotion to his family, friends, and community. He is survived by the love of his life, Karin Hogge, with whom he shared an enduring love since their marriage on August 14, 1993. Chris's children, Nathaniel Christopher Hogge (Macey), Kiersten Stole (Nick), and Davis Charles Hogge (fiancé, Morgan Ortiz), his adored granddaughter, Lily Stole, and his mother Vivian Hogge will carry forward his legacy of compassion and joy. Chris's sister-in-law, Patti Hogge, her children Kyle Hogge (Anna) and Holly Huber (Joe), as well as many special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews, will forever remember his larger-than-life presence.
Preceding him in death were his father, Charles "Charlie" D. Hogge, his brother, Curt Hogge, his infant twin sons, Dennis and Julius Hogge, and his beloved "Uncle Dad," Jack Hogge. These loved ones were undoubtedly there to welcome Chris with open arms on his heavenly arrival.
Professionally, Chris's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. As a former golf professional and course manager, he left his mark on Westview Golf Course, Spring Lake Country Club, and most recently at Loon Lake Golf Course in Jackson, MN. Chris's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he operated the "Smoke House" restaurant, delighting many with his famous brisket and pulled pork. His eclectic career also saw him working in sales, radio, and even as a butler for a time. His pride in coaching the Quincy Notre Dame High School Girls Golf Team was evident, as he led them to two State Golf Tournament appearances over a 16-year tenure.
Chris grew up in the strong traditions of the Catholic faith, and in the last several years experienced a transformed life through a deep, personal relationship with Jesus. His interests were as wide-ranging as his career. An avid golfer, he relished the opportunity to play various courses, sharing his love for the game with everyone he met. Chris's adventurous spirit was evident in his travels with family to destinations like Lake of the Ozarks, New Zealand, Australia, and Kansas City. He cherished the simple joys of boating on the Mississippi River, watching his children's soccer matches, and meeting new people, never missing an opportunity to strike up a conversation or share a laugh.
A die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, Chris's enthusiasm for his team was unwavering, and he had the unique honor of attending their very first game at Arrowhead Stadium. His love for trying new and different local cuisines, his fondness for the music of the Eagles, and his playful nature, always ready with a joke or a light-hearted comment, made every road trip memorable. Chris's world revolved around his children, and his role as a father was one, he cherished above all.
Chris Hogge was the epitome of a loving, funny, and friendly soul. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to inspire laughter, love, and a zest for life in the hearts of those he touched.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quincy Notre Dame Girls Golf Team for a scholarship in Chris's honor.
