Christopher Henry Martinez Sr.

Christoper Henry Martinez, 76, passed away on October 14, 2024, from a short battle with lung cancer. He went peacefully surrounded by family and friends in his home in South Houston, TX.
Henry was born on August 20, 1948, in Houston, Texas, the seventh of fifteen children to Lucinda and Juan Martinez. He was a skilled construction worker, and he took a lot of pride in his craft. Henry built his own home, and his family will continue to enjoy and reminisce about the memories created for many years to come.
Henry married his sweetheart MaryJane on October 8, 1966. They raised five children, Christoper Henry Martinez Jr, Gabriel Martinez, Louis Martinez, Michael Anthony Martinez, and Loretta Jane Martinez. Their fifty-eight years of marriage blessed them with seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Henry lived vicariously through them all attending many graduations, sports games, musicals, and often enjoyed playing checkers with them. He took pride in his family taxi duties totting the grandkids to Boy Scout meetings, practices and school.
Henry also had a passion for playing his guitar. He loved rock-n-roll music. He loved to sing and dance. He loved painting and watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys! He was also the President of the South Houston Lowriders. Henry lived a full life. His wife, children and grandchildren will miss him dearly and will cherish and honor his memory.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Lucinda Martinez, sisters, Rosie Vasquez, Mary Ybarra, Susie Mendoza and his brother Jesse Martinez. He leaves behind to cherish his everlasting memories to his wife of 58 years, MaryJane Martinez, his sons; Christoper Henry Martinez Jr, Gabriel Martinez and his wife Tracey, Louis Martinez and his wife Michelle, Michael Anthony Martinez and his wife Andrea, his daughter Loretta Jane Martinez, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 4pm to 9pm at the Vazquez Funeral Home Chapel located at 910 Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena Texas. A funeral Mass will begin at noon at St. Francis of Cabrini Catholic Church. A final visitation hour will be held one hour before. We will then follow in funeral procession to Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
