Christopher Martin Meisenhelter entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born November 14, 1945 in York Pennsylvania. Chris was predeceased by his parents, Charles Meisenhelter and Doris Young, his brother, Michael Meisenhelter, and his son, Christian Meisenhelter.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Mary, and his children Lori Rutledge, Mark Meisenhelter, Greg (Tammy) Meisenhelter, and Dan (Wendy Kuhn) Meisenhelter. Chris also leaves behind his grandchildren Nicholas Rutledge, Patrick Rutledge, Kathryn (husband Brandon) Scott, Corey Meisenhelter, Joshua Meisenhelter, Jaxson Meisenhelter, Cassidy Meisenhelter, Aiden Meisenhelter, Gillian Meisenhelter, Addison Meisenhelter, Cameron Stephens, MacKenzie Stephens, and Misty Stover. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Rose Rutledge, Payton Stover, Cohen Stover, and he has two more great grandchildren on the way. Chris also leaves behind his siblings: Stephen Young, Ann O'Connell, Susan Steckler, Chuck Meisenhelter, Becky Anderton, Cammy Reynolds.
Chris graduated from William Penn Senior High School and York College of Pennsylvania. He earned an M.S. and an MBA from the University of Maryland and completed his doctoral coursework at the Pennsylvania State University.
Chris worked at Maple Press and Cole Steel but is most remembered for his distinguished 33 year career as a professor at York College in the Graham School of Business. During his tenure at York College, he served as President of the Academic Senate, Chair of the Budget Committee, and was a member of countless other committees. Chris was a dedicated mentor to colleagues and students alike. Chris loved to travel with Mary and experience other cultures. In retirement, Chris was most content to spend time with his family and his dogs, Grace and Finnegan.
The family is hosting a drop-in Bon Voyage Party at York College in the Upper Lobby of the Waldner Performing Arts Center (Located on the top floor of the Humanities Center) on November 2, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 pm to fellowship with family and friends.
