Christopher Owen Patrick Sheahan "COPS"
Christopher Owen Patrick Sheahan, 63, of Milton, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 26th, 2023. For those who had the tremendous fortune of knowing the "COPS", they understand how truly missed this legendary Irishman will be. Born in Dover, NH, on January 6th, 1960, Chris was the son of Maurice and Alice (Durnin) Sheahan. Copsy graduated High School in 1978 from Dover High, where his legend began. He made friends with all, was a member of many successful hoops teams, charmed many women and attended a kegger or two alongside his pals. An accomplished apprenticeship graduate of PNSY, COPS went on to serve 25 years of dedicated government service between Portsmouth and Sub Base New London in Connecticut. He met many of his lifelong friends through his career as a pipefitter supervisor in shop 56, work planner and facilities manager at SBNL.
Chris was primarily known for being the unequivocal life of the party, creative master of song, undefeated champion of cribbage, but most importantly, his loyalty to those that were closest to him. He danced with the lady in the sweet red shoes, was inducted into the "drinkers hall of fame" (as local president), and coined many a phrase, including "adapt, improvise and overcome." A man of many talents, he was famous for his uncanny ability on the keyboard, his originally composed lyrical masterpieces and his expertise on the harmonica.
"The Shark of the Green Velvet" could shoot pool, throw darts and play cards with the best of them, and wasn't afraid to let you know about it. He loved anything and everything green, paydays, touchdowns, cold frosty mugs, TCM specials, the goddess Katahdin, maintaining his independence, and of course- the #18. He was a frequent arguer with "Me, myself and I", and was openly against all sports officials, umpires/referees, but he truly enjoyed watching his Patriots with friends, celebrating his beloved "Tommy, Gronky & Jules".
"The Mayor of Milton" was able to travel far and wide, spreading cheers from rolling hills of Ireland to the superrific shores of Hawaii. A devout lover of dogs, Chris was able to have many throughout his life- Blackie, Penny, O'Hara, Clancy, Molly, Sully, Abby, Toby, Baxter, Walter, Lucy, and his "gpup" Chevy.
Chris's pride and joy were his children, Riley and Emily. A loving parent first, best friend second, he was always there to lend a hand (or his knowledgeable opinion) to them for anything. He would move mountains for their happiness, and was proud of them to his core.
Along with his parents, Chris was pre-deceased by his brothers in law, Michael Moore & Kevin Barry, and longtime friend Matt Letellier.
He is survived by his son, Riley "Rileyboy" Sheahan and his daughter, Emily "EmilyBoBemily" Maxfield; his beloved siblings: brother, Paul "Pablo Cruise" and his wife, Deb Sheahan and his sisters, Katie (Sheahan) Moore Barry and Maureen Sheahan; his cherished Godson and nephew, Christopher "Rooster" and his wife, Erin Moore; his nieces, Kelly "Kelly Boots" and her husband Rich Semertgakis, as well as Amy "Amy Leigh-Leigh" and her husband, Matt Palace; his Godson and nephew, Ryan "Ry-Guy Spaghetti Sauce" Sheahan and nephew Sean "Seanny Meester Meister Mooster" Sheahan, as well many great nieces and great nephews, and so many special cousins.
He is also survived by many very special friends- Steve "Studbud" Clifford & family, Art "Arkata" Allaire & family, Steve "Abadabadoo" Abbott & family, Mark "Mcduff" Duffy & family, Al "Frenchie" Lirette & family, Godson Ryan Lirette & family, Marty Butterfield, Joey Shaheen, Ken "Rockstah" Rock, Jack Hippern & family, Wayne Lamoureux & family, Janice (Sheahan) Estes, Jack Donaldson, his work crew from SBNL, and many, many more.
"The key to learning is listening. The key to life is happiness. "
A wise phrase that he spread to all: "I'll tell you once, I'll tell you twice, I'll tell you a million, billion times - don't over exaggerate". It is no exaggeration to say that this world was a better place with Chris in it. As he sets sail for one final voyage into the afterlife, it is with love and gratitude that we say rest in peace to the legend, Christopher Owen Patrick Sheahan.
