Christopher B. Reed, of Hanover, passed away on December 29, 2022, at the age of 52. He was the beloved son of Beverly A. Reed (Salsman) and the late Walter K. Reed; the dear brother of Denise Reed and Walter "Brian" Reed and his wife, Barbara; and the cherished uncle of Shelby, Briana, Kara and MaKenzie. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his fiancé, Suzanne Hall.
Chris lived the early years of his life in Vineland, New Jersey where Chris and his brother Brian played baseball on the Vineland little league teams. They were a team themselves, Brian being the pitcher and Chris being the catcher. Both of their parents were their little league coaches! Chris attended high school in Louisiana and New Jersey. He graduated from high school in 1988. After high school, Chris attended Louisiana Tech and Allegany College of Maryland where he earned a degree in forestry. Chris became a certified Arborist and enjoyed working with trees and plants. Chris has worked with trees for over 26 years, most recently, for Leaf and Limb in Raleigh, North Carolina where he enjoyed his job tremendously.
Chris loved trees, nature, the beach, and being outside. Chris was a history buff and very knowledgeable about WWII and other wars our country was involved in. He collected war memorabilia, movies, and books about history. Chris also loved mustangs, anything green, Mardi Gras, his dog Riley, his family, and his beloved Suzanne. Chris had many close friends around the country, and talked about and enjoyed his friends from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Louisiana, and North Carolina.
As per his last wishes to his sister Denise, Chris was cremated and his ashes will be joined with his beloved Suzanne's ashes and scattered on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina in the Outer Banks, where he proposed to Suzanne.
A Celebration of Life service for Christopher will be held at Hanover Community Church on January 21, 2023, at 1p.m. by his family under the direction of Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. of McSherrystown.

Our thoughts and prayers to Chris' family. We met Chris through his friendship with our son and truly enjoyed our interactions with him over the years. Chris actually did some tree work for us and amazed us with his skill and knowledge. Even when Chris moved away, he always stopped or called to say "hello" when he visited Hanover. Family was very important to Chris and we are so thankful he was able to return home to be with his family as his health declined. Chris' memory will live on through the many people and things he loved and enjoyed. God bless you, dear family. Gene and Ruth Meckley and family

I was shocked to hear of your passing. I always learned something from your during our time working together. I appreciated the quizzes you gave me on tree´s Latin names and the quick and witty jokes. One of the few people I met after moving to NC that knew where Sayre, PA was (I believe your mother and I shared a common birthplace!). You will be missed
