Christopher Bradley Sorensen

Born on January 12, 1961, in Riverside, California, to Glenn and Patsy Sorensen, Chris Sorensen grew up in Utah. In 1962, the family relocated to West Valley City, where Chris spent his formative years attending schools in the Granite School District. He graduated from Kearns High School in 1979.

Chris had a passion for music, enjoying movies, orchestras, operas, and even ballet. Reading was his favorite pastime, and he always carried a book with him. In January 1994, a friend convinced him to try square dancing, where he met Melva. He quickly fell in love with the dance and eventually became a square dance caller. As a couple, they served on the state board and the USA West Board. Over the 13 years of square dancing they attended numerous state and national dances, traveling to out-of-state events with friends.

Chris is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melva; his father, Glenn; his brothers, Jeffery and Matthew; his stepdaughters, Heidi and Connie; his son, Brent; 14 nieces and nephews; and 34 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy, and stepsons, Scott and Brett.
