Christopher S Steelman

Christopher S. Steelman 65, of Barnegat, NJ passed away January 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. He died at home surrounded by his loving wife, Jillianne Cistaro Steelman and family.
Chris was born on December 31, 1959, in Dover, NJ to the late Charles and Janice Miller-Steelman, and was employed as a Chief Powerhouse Engineer at Novartis Pharmaceuticals for 35 years. He graduated from Roxbury High School, Class of 1979, attended University of Phoenix and held many certifications in facilities management.
His love of his family, and close friends was immeasurable and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He enjoyed boating, traveling, hiking, hunting, fishing and had a passion for cycling.
In addition to his wife, Jillianne (Cistaro), Chris was the loving father of his daughters Kristin Garlewicz (Ryan), and Alexandra Zimmerman and proud grandfather of Vail & Jaxon Garlewicz, Jett & Hawke Johnson, and two bonus grandchildren Blake and Champ Johnson. He is survived by his sister Paula Smith (Jeff Herbert), brother Charles Steelman, sister-in-law Lynn Hagdorn, brothers-in- law, Peter Hagdorn, Jamie White (Norma), Eugene Cistaro (Kathy) and Timothy Cistaro. As well as several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great nieces & nephews, and cousins who were all very much loved by Chris.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Mother-in-Law Patricia Cistaro, & sister Wanda White.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-5:00PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 5:00PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph, NJ (Tuttlefh.com). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project.
