Christopher "Michael" Switzer, 44, of Bentonville, Arkansas, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 21st, 2023, at Circle of Life in Bentonville. He was born June 28th, 1979, in
Monroe, Louisiana to Wally Switzer and Cindy Switzer Webb.
Minnow - In 1983, Wally received a job opportunity at Walmart headquarters and moved the family to the small quaint town of Bentonville, Arkansas; to say this town was forever changed would be an understatement! Even at the mature age of 5, Chris' "never met a stranger", magnetic personality drew all those alike to his fun, loving, care-free energy. He developed many lifelong friendships and bonds that are still prevalent today. Chris was affectionately nicknamed "Minnow" due to his small stature but as we all know that would quickly change as a star athlete was in the making!
Passion - Chris graduated from Bentonville High School in 1997 and was an extremely talented athlete, excelling at almost everything he did, especially in sports where he earned All-State honors in Football and proudly wore the #17. His talent, passion, and love for "the game" had him involved in several athletic programs including Basketball, Track, and a member of the State Champion Swim team. Chris may have had Louisiana "Cajun" roots (hence his love for spicy food and crawfish boils), but he was a true Razorback fan through and through; he would be the first to tailgate and call the Hogs at a moment's notice! Chris also had a great love for nature and the outdoors, where he particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, cliff diving and horse racing. Chris' enthusiasm and excitement for meteorology and storm chasing could be felt every time a storm would roll in!
Laughter - Chris had a smile that was contagious, and THAT smile could light up even the darkest room. He had a keen ability to evoke laughter when you were mad, to bring joy when you were sad and to get even the most conservative person to stand up, sing and dance!
"If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand" - Unknown
Love - Chris had the heart of a lion, he was loyal and loved deeply. He had "superpower" abilities to make friends in an instance; and in that instance you had a friend for life. He was a mastermind and creative genius when it came to catchy one-liners and affectionate and witty nicknames that always seemed to "stick". Chris was a member of Fellowship Church of Rogers and proudly served as a loving father, son, and brother. His days were best spent with family and friends, laughing, singing, cracking jokes, and making memories. Chris' greatest accomplishment will always be his role of "daddy" to Lillian and Stella; he was proud, humbled, and overjoyed to call them "his girls".
"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again." - Maya Angelou
The void and loss of Christopher "Michael" Switzer is immense, his presence and memories will live on through our shared love and admiration. Some would say Chris lived many lifetimes in one and through his "Switzer way" has changed each of our lives for the better, leaving behind an imprint on our hearts that will unify us forever.
"Those we love and lose are always connected by heartstrings into infinity" - Terri Guillemets
