Christopher White Obituary

Christopher T. White, age 71, passed away at his home on September 12, 2025.

He was born August 17, 1954, to the late William and Wilma "June" (Hyde) White in Omaha, NE, and was a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. Growing up on Lake Manawa, Chris had a love for all things outdoors.

Chris graduated from Lewis Central High School with the class of 1972.

Chris met the love of his life, Sherri Eckart, when working at local Tractor Supply stores, and married on May 25, 1973. Always planning for the future, and their first child along the way, Chris got his foot in the door at Iowa Power, where he spent his career, retiring from MidAmerican Energy as a Foreman Lineman after 41 years of service. During his career, Chris taught the Lineman Interns, and was Chief Steward of the Union.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, car and motorcycle enthusiast, passions which he inherited from his father, and a proud American patriot. His most proud accomplishments were of his family.

In martial arts for many years, Chris was in competitive Judo matches, earning his black belt. Sherri joined him in the sport, and they traveled to competitions together. Chris also taught Judo to underprivileged children in town.

Chris spent his recreation time with family, coaching his daughters' softball teams, hunting and fishing trips with friends and family.

Chris was an active member of First Christian Church, since 2016, the year of his baptism.

As their daughters grew, married and had families of their own, grandchildren became the focus of Chris and Sherri's lives, doing whatever they could to spend time with them.

Chris's heart was for others, constantly teaching, guiding, and doing what he could to serve and protect. He saw the best in others, as God created them. He was loved, admired, and respected by anyone that knew him.

Christopher is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherri White; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelli & Jeremy Damgaard, Lori & Josh Kempers; grandchildren, Zohie Rew (Brian), Bridger Damgaard, Kole Kempers, Celia Kempers, and Jovie Kempers; great grandchildren, Harrison Rew and Alan Rew; sister and brother-in-law, Christie & Brian McCarthy; nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The family will direct memorials in Chris's honor.
