Charles W. "Chuck" Reagan, 82, of Herrin, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at S.I.H. Herrin Hospital in Herrin.
Chuck worked for 30 years at Allen Industries in Herrin as a Tool & Die Specialist.
Chuck was a founding member of the Fin & Feather Club in Freeman Spur.
Chuck was born June 14, 1940 in Herrin to George and Hilda (Daniels) Reagan.
Chuck married Loretta Hardcastle on March 17, 1962 at the Second Baptist Church in Herrin.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loretta Reagan; two daughters and son-in-law, Kimbra "Kim" & Jett Crouse of Herrin and Debra Cole of Herrin; nine grandchildren, Sarah & John Gund, Elijah & Bethany Crouse, Emma & Gavin Perry, Andrew Crouse, Johnathan Crouse, Rebekah Crouse, David Crouse, Cassandra & Brandon Threlkeld and Grayce Cole; 12 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Gwyneth, Chloe, Josiah, Caleb, Kayana, Elizabeth, Miriam, Micaiah, Olivia, Saylor, and Ryker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Reagan; parents; and grandson, Caleb Cole.
Chuck loved his family and the property he lived on. He enjoyed sitting among the oaks watching the deer and the bees. At home he watched Nascar and would explain the nuances of the sport.
Throughout his years, Chuck has built custom cars. He drag raced some of them, held records and acquired many trophies. He spent many racing season with Chuck "One Armed Bandit" Amati accompanying him as he became a famous dirt track driver. There's an unfinished '55 Chevy truck in the garage. Been working on it off and on the past 10 years.
A hunter and fisherman, Chuck and close friends ran the 'Boone, Bridger and Johnson Fur Company' here in southern Illinois.
He was a great storyteller.
Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin.
