Cindy Cowan Obituary

Cindy Cowan, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away and ran into the arms of her Savior on Monday, September 29, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11am at Irwin Road Baptist Church.

Cindy was born on July 16, 1954, to Warren Vance and Patsy Patterson in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1972. Cindy married the love of her life, Charles Cowan, on March 8, 1975, and together, they shared 50 years of marriage. Cindy worked for Levi Strauss and McLeans for several years, but her greatest joy was found in the time she spent with her family. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved camping, water skiing, and riding four-wheelers in the mountains. Cindy was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her two sons, Chris and Steven, who were the pride of her life.

Above all, Cindy loved the Lord. She was a faithful and cherished member of Irwin Road Baptist Church, where she joyfully taught children’s Sunday school for 25 years, leaving a lasting impact on many young lives.

Cindy was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured forever.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Patsy Vance and her two brothers, Warren Vance and Wallace Vance.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Cowan; her sons, Chris Cowan and wife Diana, of Amarillo, Texas and Steven Cowan and wife, Kirsten, of Edinburgh, Scotland; her sister, Mary Stansell and husband, Craig and her two grandsons, Alex Cowan and Greyson Cowan
