Ozzie Barnes, Jr., was born to Ozzie Barnes, Sr., and Velma Barnes in Childress, Texas, on May 2, 1953. Ozzie Barnes attended elementary school in Plainview, Texas.

Ozzie and his grandparents moved to Amarillo in 1960, where he attended Hilltop

Elementary and Carver Junior High. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and

attended Amarillo College. For a while, he worked at Bell Helicopter and several other

different jobs in Amarillo. Ozzie retired early in life because of an accident while

working at a food warehouse, which left him disabled. Being disabled, didn't stop his

helpful hands and kindness he showed to everyone he came in contact with. Ozzie was

a very humble man and would help anyone, but his true love was his family and you

didn't have to be blood for him to consider you family. He touched so many people.

The love and smiles he gave to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

was beautiful. Ozzie was a member of the Temple Praise Community Church under

the leadership of Bishop John Chris Brown, where he was active as a Deacon. He

worked in the church as the handyman and yardman faithfully.

Ozzie was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Bertha Westmoreland; father, Ozzie Barnes, Sr.; mother, Velma Foster; sisters, Elizabeth Barnes-Freeman of Amarillo, TX, Charlene Ivory of Amarillo, TX, and Zelder Barnes of Dallas, TX; and brother, Ephraim Owens of Denver, CO; special daughter-in-law, Shasati SimmonsLuckey; and special daughter, Jasmine Davis.

Ozzie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of over 40 years, Beverly Barnes;

daughters, Denesha Jefferson (husband, Rolland Jefferson) of Arlington, TX, and

Ossie Nell Barnes of Dallas, TX; sons, Ozzie Luckey of Amarillo, TX, Byron Luckey of

Amarillo, TX, Curtis Barnes of Amarillo, TX, and Chase Barnes (wife, Merce Barnes)

of Pampa, TX; honorary son, Michael Luckey of Amarillo, TX; 17 grandchildren and

10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Mae Barnes of Amarillo, TX, Stephanie Barnes

of Dallas, TX, Yolanda Foster of Amarillo, TX, and Zelda Jean Foster of Pflugerville,

TX; brothers, Anthony Owens of Denver, CO, and William Foster of Amarillo, TX;

special sister-in-law, Debbie Luckey of Amarillo, TX; and a host of aunts, uncles,

nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
