Cynthia Leigh Garrett Wilson, 64, of Spartanburg, has passed away.
Born September 29, 1957, in Columbus, GA, she was the daughter of R.D. "Bob" Garrett and the late JoAnn Neal Garrett. She received her nursing degree and worked at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital, Prisma Health.
Surviving are her sons: Charlie Phillips (D.J.) of Gainesville, GA, Mackie Phillips (Anna) of Hendersonville, NC, Michael Wilson (Hayden) of Greenville, SC, and Cory Wilson of Seneca, SC; six grandchildren: Alex, Sean and Ryan Phillips; Gus and Lark Wilson, and R.J. Phillips; father, Bob Garrett of Anderson; brothers and sister: Penny Crowell (Drew) of Durango, CO, Robbie Garrett (Pam), Sherri Settle (Mike) and Rusty Garrett all of Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cindy was many things to many people. To her children she was a loving mother. To her grandchildren she was an adoring "Gigi". To her siblings she was an instigator of laughter. To everyone else she was a selfless advocate, representing the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Cindy lived to lift up the hurting the pain-ridden the downtrodden those struggling with life. Her soft spot for the broken and needy was only matched by her desire to magnify the grace of Christ.
While we mourn her loss, we celebrate the fact that she is now with her true advocate in heaven. We ask that you come celebrate with us at 2pm on Saturday, June 25 at New Covenant Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Overcomers at Miracle Hill, 490 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29602; www.miraclehill.org
