Clair L. Bair Jr. of Port Royal passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born May 22, 1947, in Lewistown, JR was a son of the late Clair L. and Joyce (Betlyon) Bair Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nedra Jane (Janie) Bair on June 15, 2014. He is survived by: daughter, Melissa Bair and husband, James Krinjeck, of Belleville; son, Robert S. Bair and wife, Kelly, of Port Royal; grandson, Trace Gulick and wife, Jordan, of Lewistown; granddaughter, Kiersten Layton, and husband, Tahir, of Mifflintown; great-grandson, Rowan Layton; brother Mark Bair and wife, Carol, of York; sister-n-law, Ruth "Teenie" Eaton, of New Bloomfield; his beloved companion Deb Heisey of Mifflin and her family; and his "daughter from up the hill," Deb Dressler. After graduating from Lewistown-Granville Jr/Sr High School and the IBEW apprenticeship, JR spent 56 years as a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 143 of Harrisburg. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, the Moose, Millerstown, and the NRA. JR took pride in working with his son, Robert, for many years and helping his daughter and late wife with their horses, dogs, and other critters. In his later years, he was known for having an inordinate number of slightly inappropriate T-shirts, which he wore proudly. He was very generous and loved spending time with his family, reading, eating breakfast, going out to dinner, taking drives, and cooking. A memorial service will be held August 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lemon St., Mifflintown, with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Rescue Our Furry Friends, P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
