Clara Lou Dancy, age 99, the beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was born on July 23, 1925, in Hardeman County, TN, to Jacob H. and Polly Ann Cox Webb. Clara lived a life rich in love, family, and nurturing bonds, which she cultivated through her devotion as a homemaker. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, TN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home.
Known for her vibrant personality, Clara was a passionate individual who loved to dance and celebrate life, particularly through her memorable birthday parties. Her talents extended into the kitchen, where her interests in cooking and sharing meals brought her family together. She was also passionate about tending to her flowers, a reflection of her nurturing nature and love for beauty in everyday life.
Clara's legacy is carried on by her devoted daughter, Judy McNabb; her sons, William L. "Pete" Dancy, Robert H. Dancy (Andria), and Dustin Keuter; and her brother, Robert D. Webb. She was proud of her large family, which also includes 38 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 44 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply touched by her warmth and love.
She is preceded in death by her husband, of 45 years, James N. Dancy; her parents, Jacob and Polly Ann Webb; her daughters, Carolyn L. Elrod, Mary Sue Evans, Rose Lott, Linda Lou Martin, Dina Clara Dancy, and Jan Bennett; and her sons, James Earl Webb, James Nash Dancy, Jr., and Cleveland Turpin; her brothers, Houston Webb and Henry Webb; as well as her sisters, Lillie Shahan and Minnie Rose Webb.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care and kindness shown to them by the staff of the West Tennessee Hospice.
Pallbearers for the service will be Earl Webb, Robbie Elrod, Johnny Townsend, Mitchell Martin, Jamie Dancy, Robert Dale Fincher, Josh Dancy and J.R. Baker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Dancy, Roger Townsend, Derrick Voyles and Rocky Webb.
Clara Lou Dancy will be remembered for her indomitable spirit and the unconditional love she gave to her family, leaving an everlasting imprint on their hearts. Her memory will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. The family requests that memorials be made to the Stanton Cemetery Fund, c/o Dana Woods, P.O. Box 207, Stanton, TN 38069. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
