Clarence Paul Matherne

Clarence Paul "Buck" Matherne, Jr. a native and resident of Raceland, born on December 1, 1934, died on September 27, 2021, age 86.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 2nd from 10 am until funeral time at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, in Mathews. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 12 noon with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Raceland.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joel Gaubert Matherne, 3 sons, Jody (Yogi), Leslie (Marlo) and Jamie (Susan); 2 daughters, Tina Richard (Barry) and Jeanine Benoit (Blake); grandchildren, Jackie (Chad) Robichaux, Fr. John David Matherne, Kristen (Luke) Charpentier, Grant Matherne, Cameron Richard, Noah and Hannah Benoit; great grandson, William Robichaux and 1 brother, Francis Matherne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Cecile Matherne, brothers, Kirlin, JC, Robert, Willie and Jerry Matherne, his sisters, Bernice (Bea) Falgout, Betty Zeringue and Verna Theriot; grandson, Whitney Paul Richard and great granddaughter, Audrey Grace Charpentier.

He loved his family and friends. He was a farmer his entire life and loved anything Cajun. He was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations to St. Mary Nativity or St. Hilary Catholic churches.
