Clarence Harvey Whitesell, Jr. Jr.

Harvey Whitesell, 91, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family,

on August 9, 2025. Born on September 12, 1933, he was the son of Clarence Harvey Whitesell and

Francis Moser Whitesell.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Harvey served his country with honor before beginning a

remarkable career of over four decades with United Airlines. Known for his dedication, kindness,

and his big, warm smile, he was admired by colleagues and loved by all who knew him.

Harvey cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted father to his children Scott, Curt, and

Mara, and stepdaughter Suzanne, offering them love, wisdom, and support throughout his life. He

was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Giovannoni Whitesell, his second wife, Marjory Shenk

Whitesell, his son, Eric Lee Whitesell, and his grandson, Joshua Whitesell.

He is survived by his children and stepdaughter, along with his beloved grandchildren Anastasia,

Krystina, Heather, Paxton, Will, and Heidi, and four great-grandchildren. His warmth, humor, and

steady presence will be deeply missed.

Harvey's life was one of service, loyalty, and compassion. His legacy will live on in his family and the

many friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.

A home-going celebration will be held at Lawndale Baptist Church, 3505 Lawndale Dr, Greensboro,

NC 27408, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests

donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Harvey Whitesell.
