Clariece Jones Powell, a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, and a native of Amory, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on September 9, 1937, in Splunge, Mississippi. Clariece worked for many years at Lamar Advertising in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she later retired. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who deeply cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her, and she especially enjoyed traveling, with cruises being a favorite, as well as spending time visiting with family and friends. Clariece was a faithful member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ in Amory, Mississippi. She dedicated much of her time to volunteer work, often driving those in need to appointments, and she found great joy in singing in the church choir.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Christian Chapel Church of Christ, Amory, Mississippi with Minister Marshall Eubanks, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery, Amory.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burley “BB” Jones and Gladys McWhiter Jones; her sister, Burniece Howell; and her brother, Dwight Jones (Margaret Ann).

Clariece is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Bill Powell; her son, Brad Powell (Tena); and her three grandchildren, Christena Brignac (Andrew), Patricia Day (Scott), and Kirk Powell (Magen). She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Kyla B. Millet (Austen), Sergeant Cullen DeArmond (Ilene), Lexi Brignac, Alyssa Powell, and Paisley Powell. She is also survived by her nieces, Shirley Howell and Pam Hart (David), along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Specialists of Louisiana, Brandi Baker, Laura Reeves, Regina Oxford, and the caring staff at Francois Bend Memory Care for their compassion and support.
