Claudia Barton Obituary
Claudia Barton, 77, of Pierceton, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Fresenius Kidney Center.
Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, on November 3, 1948, Claudia was the beloved daughter of Henry and Ival (Akers) Whitaker. She would move from her hometown with her family to the area in 1962. She worked as an inspector at Paragon for many years until her retirement.
Claudia was known for being a wonderful cook, and enjoyed making candy for all to share. She loved “Whoppers” . She had a lot of fun gambling especially on Bingo nights.
Her greatest love was the joy of raising her children and watching as her family grew. She enjoyed being with her family and making many wonderful memories. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Claudia is survived by son Charles Shepherd of Pierceton, daughters; Sandra Helblig of Churubusco, and Jane (Carl) Hughes of Silver Lake, a sister; Arlene (Jim) Barton of Dowagiac, Michigan, a brother; Michael Whitaker of Warsaw, 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, a brother and her great grandson, Zane.
A visitation in honor of Claudia will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels Warsaw, Indiana. Funeral Service will be Friday, December 12, 2025 beginning at 11:00 am with Reverend Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, 7015 E 350 S Pierceton, Indiana.
