He was born December 5, 1940 in East Saint Louis to Clerance Cannon and Katherin McGaughy. He was preceded in death by parents, Laurce and Mitt McGaughy, and Penny Farmer. He received an education in the public schools of East Saint Louis and was married to Mary Cannon. He was employed by School District #189 and attended The Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Cannon was the first from East Saint Louis to be drafted for the pros in Baseball straight out of high school. He also played with The Harlem Magicians Basketball Team, The Chicago White Socks, The Old Pros Semi-pro Softball Team and The All Stars.
He is survived by Children: Clemmie (Mary) Cannon; Carmen Cannon-Taylor; Clerance (Teresa Ann) Cannon and Carlton Lamont Cannon; Justin Moore, Catherine (Lamont) Richardson and Vanessa Harris.
