Cleobelle B. Friedrich, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Edenbrook in Platteville. She was born on June 25, 1938, in Ellenboro Township, the daughter of Guerdon W. and Gila G. (Marcue) Hall. Cleobelle attended Ellenboro School all eight years and graduated from Platteville High School. She then worked at the Schultz Brothers store in Platteville for three years. On January 31, 1959, Cleobelle was united in marriage to John W. Friedrich in Dubuque, Iowa. John worked in construction, so they moved around a lot. On May 15, 1962, their first son Eric John was born. On December 26, 1963, their second son, Brian Weldon was born. On December 13, 1964, their first daughter, Angela Holly was born and on June 17, 1970, their third son, Todd Wayne was born. Cleobelle loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and traveling. She worked at LCC in Lancaster for twenty years. She also served as a Cub Scout leader and did a lot of babysitting and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, John; their children: Eric (Michelle) Friedrich, Brian Friedrich, Angela (Duane) Griffith, and Todd (Jessica) Friedrich; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Kevin (Bernie) Hall; a sister, Glenice Spease; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Cleobelle was preceded in death by her brothers, Graydon (Pat), Edward (Karen) Hall and her sister, Cleone (Donnie) Ames; and a brother-in-law, Mervin Spease.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Crossroads Supper Club in Arthur. Burial will be held at a later date at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster.
